This wonderful set of 8 large mahogany Queen Anne style dining chairs are great quality & are in good original condition. I would say they date from around the 1920's period with the original needlepoint drop in seats that are still intact. Some of the seats have sunk a bit, but could easily be re-webbed & with the help of some padding, be lifted up again. There are 6 chairs plus 2 carvers. They have very generous proportions & loads of character. These chairs are solid mahogany, with flame mahogany backs & some very good carving on the shaped legs.
This antique Georgian style concave fronted mahogany bookcase has a great look & is good quality too. It has a dental moulding at the top, good carvings, astral glazed top cupboards with shelving inside. The bottom cupboards are flame mahogany & are slightly deeper inside. What's especially nice about this piece is that it's not too high & it doesn't have to be used only for books. It's in good original condition, with plenty of character & I would say it dates to around the 1930-50's period. By the way, this bookcase is curved in on the front & flat on the back.
This top quality antique Edwardian wardrobe is in great original condition. It has loads of lovely original features, so please enlarge all of the images & see for yourselves. The wardrobe is solid mahogany, with flame & fiddle back mahogany in certain places, plus it's profusely inlaid with satinwood & other exotic woods. There is a double arched cornice on top. Below this on either side are two doors with the original bevelled mirrors. Inside are hanging bars for full length hanging & it's deep enough for a hanger, plus there are hooks, shelves & even another drawer on one side. The two middle top cupboards are profusely inlaid, with a brass bar between & inside is one shelf. The middle bottom drawers are graduated & have brass handles that have been replaced. There is so much going on with this piece that I forgot to mention the open section in the middle that has an original bevelled mirror at the back. The door handles are original too & it has shaped bracket feet. This wardrobe comes apart in five sections, so placing it in a room won't be a problem.
Very impressive, mahogany breakfront bookcase, with four astral glazed doors above & four flame mahogany panelled doors below. The top of this bookcase has a dental cornice, with tear drop mouldings. This bookcase is excellent quality & has a nice original colour, with plenty of character. I believe it might have been made by a firm called 'Bevan Funnell' in the 1950's. The condition is very good for it's age & it is structurally sound. Because of it's size it will separate into two sections for easier transportation.
