This antique walnut bureau bookcase has a great look & plenty of character. It has a double domed top, two astral-glazed doors, with adjustable shelves inside that rest on shark teeth supports. The flap has some great figuring on it, with some herring bone inlay too. The inside has a stepped interior, with small drawers & what looks like the original writing surface. There are four graduated drawers below, with the original etched brass handles & escutcheons. It sits on bold bracket feet & the top just lifts off from the base for easy transportation. This bureau bookcase must date from around the 1900-10 period & it has plenty of natural distressing within in. There is some evidence of a small amount of wood worm on one side of the bottom, plus some very minor old hole marks in a couple of other places, but I believe that has long gone & it has been treated just in case. Like I said, it's a real character piece, structurally sound & good quality. It has just been polished too.
