This large inverted breakfront antique mahogany wardrobe compactum is great quality & is a very practicable piece of furniture. It has everything you need in the bedroom, like hanging space, drawers & shelves. It also comes apart into quite a few sections, so transportation & getting it up the stairs won't be any problem. It dates from around the 1830-40's period & is in fabulous original condition, with a great colour, patina & loads of character. There are hanging cupboards with arched panelled doors on either side, plus two more smaller ones in the middle, with shelves inside. Below these is a full set of graduated drawers with original turned bun handles & locks. There is a generous stepped cornice on top & a plinth bases. Everything about this piece is quality, right down to the brass catches. It all sits together without any screws & there are no splits or warps. This antique mahogany two door wardrobe is good quality & in excellent original condition. It would work well in the bedroom or even as a hall cupboard for coats, etc. The front cupboards have stunning flame mahogany panels & it sits on bracket feet. The top cornice has dental mouldings below, while inside there is a top shelf & a hanging rail below. I would say it dates to around the 1890-1910 period & it has plenty of character.
This antique rosewood linen press is quite tall & very slim. It comes apart in two sections for easy transportation & it's really good quality. I would say it dates to around the 1820-40 period, judging from the design & handles. The inside shelves have been replaced, because originally they would have been sliding trays for linen, but a lot of these went missing when people decided to put hanging rails instead. It looks like it was originally made to fit in a narrow recess, because of the slim proportions & the way the cornice & plinth base don't stick out much. There are lovely panels on the top cupboards, while all the bottom drawers have locks & turned handles. This linen press has been fully restored & polished to retain the original colour. By the way, there is a little mark showing on the left hand corner of the base. This will be taken care of before it goes out, as we never let anything go until checking & fixing if necessary.
